Cancelled Futures is a powerful exploration of how young working-class people navigate an era of economic uncertainty. Drawing on interviews with 62 Black, Asian and white young people across Britain, Singh challenges simplistic debates about race versus class and reveals the shared struggles shaping young people's hopes, ambitions and sense of possibility.
From London to Rochdale and Morecambe Bay, the book examines how race, gender and place influence experiences of inequality, while highlighting a common feeling of living without a clear or secure future. Insightful and deeply humane, Cancelled Futures offers a timely account of dignity, resilience and social change in contemporary Britain.
