Max Bond, Jr., was a Black architect of international renown whose best known works include the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute in Alabama, the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem.
