Island Press Short Form Program

While books are central to Island Press publishing, we recognize that timely ideas often need faster, more flexible platforms. Our Short-form Program supports writers, advocates, and organizations in shaping and sharing impactful articles, op-eds, and essays that engage today鈥檚 public conversations across digital and print media. Through this program, we amplify new and underrepresented voices, help authors test and extend ideas, and place pieces in a range of outlets from The New York Times and The Guardian to local publications nationwide.

Where to Read our Short Form Publications

Stay up to date with our recently published work by following Island Press on Ideas or on . We also publish an annual roundup of our essays, articles, and op-eds in a free downloadable ebook. The 2026 volume is coming soon.
