Publicist Charlotte Coyne is shortlisted for a Publishers Publicity Circle Award

Congratulations to publicist Charlotte Coyne, who has been shortlisted for a Publishers Publicity Circle (PPC) Award for her work on The First King of England: 脝thelstan and the Birth of a Kingdom by David Woodman. Coyne is among five UK publicity professionals recognized in the Best Academic Campaign category. This marks the third campaign for which she has received PPC recognition.

An enthralling chronicle of 脝thelstan, England鈥檚 founder king, The First King of England published in September 2025 to wide acclaim. Writing in Times Literary Supplement, Michael Wood called the book, 鈥渁n excellent addition to the growing body of work on this fascinating personality and his exciting times.鈥 In History Today, Andrew Rabin praised it as, 鈥渁 vital portrait of tenth-century kingship in action.鈥 Publicity also included features in the Telegraph, BBC Countryfile, BBC Future and interviews with author David Woodman鈥攁 professor and fellow in History at Robinson College, University of Cambridge鈥攐n BBC Radio 4, History Extra, and Times Radio, among other many outlets.

The Publishers Publicity Circle awards are given annually, across numerous categories. In 2023, PUP Publicity Manager Carmen Jimenez was awarded the prize for Best Academic Campaign for her work on The Wife of Bath: A Biography by Marion Turner. The same year, Coyne鈥攏amed a 鈥Rising Star鈥 by The 快色直播eller鈥was shortlisted for two campaigns: Virtuous Bankers: A Day in the Life of the Eighteenth-Century Bank of England and Fool: In Search of Henry VIII鈥檚 Closest Man. Previously, PUP was recognized in 2019 with former senior publicist Katie Lewis, winning for Chaucer: A European Life, also by Marion Turner.

Winners of the 2025 awards will be announced on the 2nd of March.
