Penetrating, meticulous, and tender, Jennifer Franklin’s poems capture her subjects’ brimming intellects, ardent keenings, and resilient but ultimately corruptible minds and bodies in elegies (chiefly in epistolary mode) for genius departed or abandoned too soon.
